Anthem text
Now Jesus Christ ascends
and heav'n breaks forth in song,
"Go, sit at God's right hand
the first-born out of Zion
your people will come to you
on the day you judge the nations
up on the holy mountains
sing alleluia for ever!"

Now Jesus Christ arrives
whom God greets with a shout,
"Come sit at my right hand
you are a priest forever
like dew from the womb of light
you have risen into heaven
now drink the crystal water
sing alleluia forever!"

"Now Jesus Christ is come,"
the heav’nly chorus sings,
"to sit at God's right hand.
We sing of God, our Father,
of Jesus, God's only Son
and the Comforter, the Spirit,
the triune God together,
sing alleluia forever!"

Description In this ascension anthem based on a text by Gracia Grindal, the handbells are initially heard antiphonally in response to the choral parts. In the middle, they join the voices in festive ringing. A final "Alleluia" coda ends the piece quietly.
