Description
A partita on ES IST EIN ROS' ENTSPRUNGEN ("Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming") by the Dutch composer Richard Kroes. The theme and ten variations work well together as a recital piece, ending with a rousing toccata. Movements may also be excerpted and combined for use as a shorter voluntaries.

Review
“Dutch composer Richard Kroes (1926-2008) might not be known to many of us in AAM. He was the organist of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Eindhove, the Netherlands, and he taught organ, harmony, and church music at music schools in Eindhoven and Geldrop. . . Another Kroes piece is ‘Partita on “Lo, How a Rose,”’ which presents a theme and ten variations. Each variation is rather short, and several are for manuals only. The registration is given in Dutch, but is simple to figure out and adapt to a particular instrument. The music is fairly easy, and there are some nice effects in spite of the brevity of each variation.” –AAM Journal, September 2010
