Description
Louise Reid’s setting of the Evensong responses is scored for two-part treble voices (with occasional minor divisi). It is easy throughout, and thus suitable for either children/choristers or adult singers. The music is also possible for use with two-part lower voices (tenor and bass). The harmonic color of the Lydian mode gives it an optimistic atmosphere.

Review
"This attractive set of responses has clear tonal logic and charming melodic shapes executed in unison and two-line phrases. Voices divide frequently on the final note of cadences forming triads, confirming the tonal goals of the phrase. While the language is unabashedly tonal, the rhythmic flexibility has some of the free pacing of plainsong; pulses in groups of two and three eighth notes alternate following the text emphasis. In addition to including the Lord's Prayer, Reid sets the final responses." --AAM Journal, May/June 2025
