Kerensa Briggs

Kerensa Briggs (b. 1991) is an award-winning composer based in London. Her music has been performed internationally at venues such as St Paul's Cathedral and the Sistine Chapel. Her music has been recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Scotland by ensembles such as The Tallis Scholars and the choirs of Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester Cathedrals. It also features on St Salvator's Chapel Choir CD, Annunciations, Advent Carols from King's College London and a forthcoming CD from the Choir of Pembroke College, Cambridge. Kerensa is winner of the National Centre for Early Music Young Composers Award 2014 and the 'Passiontide at Merton' Composition Competition 2017. She was also a finalist in the New Music for St Paul's Composition Competition 2019. She is a member of the TheoArtistry Composers scheme at St Andrews' Institute for Theology and The Arts and the Illuminate women's music project. Her love of sacred music emanated from her choral background, singing in the Gloucester Cathedral Youth Choir and later for choirs including the choirs of Trinity College, Cambridge, and King's College, London, where she held a Choral Scholarship and undertook an MMus in Composition. Kerensa currently works in the music department at Godolphin and Latymer school.
